A suspected extramarital affair led to the brutal murder of a 42-year-old man in Sarbahal Nuapada village under Jharsuguda Sadar police jurisdiction on Tuesday night.
Police reported that siblings Hitesh Rohidas (19) and Lingaraj Rohidas (20), along with a friend, beat Sundar Rohidas to death using a bicycle crank handle, believing he was involved in an illicit relationship with their mother. The trio, including 18-year-old accomplice Mangal Sahu, was arrested on Wednesday.
Sundar, originally from Kankramunda under Laikera police limits, had been living in Sarbahal Nuapada. While the accused brothers are residents of Sarbahal Nuapada, Mangal hails from Sarasmal.
According to authorities, Hitesh was suspicious of his mother’s relationship with Sundar, who lived nearby, and he and Lingaraj devised a plan to kill the 42-year-old man.
