One person died and at least 20 were injured in two separate road accidents that took place in Odisha on Friday, following which police have initiated investigations at both sites.
One such case was the fatal road accident on Luhamunda flyover under Handapa police limits in Angul district. According to reports, the vehicle involved in the crash was a private passenger bus named Dilkhush, which was reportedly traveling from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda when it rammed into a truck from behind. At the time of the crash, about 25 people were traveling in the bus. The impact was so severe that it killed the bus helper, and as many as 14 passengers were seriously injured and rushed to the Angul district headquarter hospital.
Soon after the news spread, the police arrived and began searching for the reasons behind the crash.
In another incident in Mayurbhanj district near Churuni Chhak under the Betanati police station, the driver of a Scorpio along with five others suffered injuries as the vehicle rammed into a trailer near a petrol pump on National Highway-16 around 4:30 AM. According to reports, the passengers were traveling from Bihar to Puri when the mishap occurred at a petrol pump near Churuni Chhak, as the trailer was reportedly taking a turn towards the fuel station. The six injured individuals, including two children, were rushed to the Betanati hospital and then shifted to Baripada medical college and hospital for further treatment.
