In Angul district, a bus accident claimed one life and left 15 others injured when the passenger bus they were traveling in crashed into a truck from behind. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday near Luhamunda in the Baindha area under the Handapa police station.
Reports indicate that the collision happened between 2 and 3 am when the Dilkhus bus, en route from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda, struck the truck ahead of it with significant force, resulting in extensive damage to the front of the bus.
Local residents, along with police and fire services, quickly responded to the scene to conduct rescue operations. The injured were transported to Angul District Headquarters Hospital, where one of the passengers later died from their injuries.
Among the injured, 15 were reported to be in serious condition, with 14 critically injured victims transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment. The accident also led to temporary traffic disruptions in the area. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
