In a tragic incident on Friday morning, a minor boy lost his life and his mother suffered critical injuries in a road accident on NH 49 near Kundursingha village, within the Kolabira police jurisdiction of Jharsuguda district.
The deceased has been identified as 10-year-old Akshit Patel from Talmal village, located near Arda in the Kirmira block.
Reports indicate that Kavita Patel, his mother, was riding a scooter with Akshit seated behind her when they attempted to overtake a truck. Their scooter collided with an oncoming motorcycle, resulting in Akshit, Kavita, and the motorcyclist being thrown onto the road.
Tragically, Akshit was run over by the truck, leading to his immediate death. Kavita was first taken to Kolabira hospital and later transferred to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). However, due to the deterioration of her condition, she was subsequently referred to VIMSAR in Burla.
