A newborn baby girl died at the Palsada Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Jharsuguda district on Sunday, as her family alleged that she fell due to negligence while being moved after delivery.
Reports indicate that a pregnant woman from Machida village was admitted to the Palsada PHC for delivery. The baby was delivered at the facility and was being transferred for further care when the incident occurred.
The family claims that improper handling by hospital staff caused the newborn to slip and suffer fatal injuries, alleging negligence in the infant’s care immediately after birth.
The incident led to tensions at the hospital, prompting police to arrive at the scene, where they detained a doctor and two other medical staff members for questioning. An investigation into the matter has been initiated.
