1,570 Individuals Benefit from OPGC's Eye Check-Up Camps in Jharsuguda, Odisha

In Jharsuguda, a total of 1,570 individuals, comprising 839 males and 731 females, benefited from a series of eye check-up camps organized by Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd (OPGC) from March 11 to 20. This initiative, part of OPGC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR), resulted in 1,356 individuals receiving spectacles to enhance their vision and quality of life.

During the screenings, 114 patients diagnosed with cataracts underwent cataract surgery at Mahanadi Netra Chikitsalaya in Jharsuguda, with all costs covered by OPGC. The camps were held in five peripheral gram panchayats under Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district, specifically at Telenpali (March 11), Dalgaon (March 13), Tilia (March 15), Remenda (March 17), and Kumarbandh (March 20).

Anjana Ranjan Dash, OPGC’s Director (Operation), inaugurated the first camp at the gram panchayat office in Telenpali, attended by Sukanta Mohapatra, Senior Vice-President (Operation), Dr. Sangita Panda, Chief Medical Officer of ITPS Hospital, Prafulla Dhal, Advisor-CSR, and other senior OPGC officials. The camps were conducted in partnership with Care Netram, Bhubaneswar, featuring a dedicated medical team that provided comprehensive eye screenings, focusing on identifying cataracts, vision impairments, and other eye-related conditions among rural residents.
