Bhubaneswar: Heat and humid conditions continued across Odisha on Tuesday. Hirakud recorded the highest temperature in the state at 42.0°C, followed by Boudh at 42.6°C, Sonepur at 41.8°C, Sambalpur at 41.2°C, Titlagarh at 41.0°C, Jharsuguda at 40.8°C, and Bolangir at 40.3°C.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Warning for Wednesday. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph are very likely at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph are likely at one or two places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Jharsuguda and Sambalpur, while hot and humid conditions are expected at isolated places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh. The IMD has advised people to remain aware and take precautions against lightning and heat exposure.
