On Monday, various regions of Odisha experienced warm daytime conditions, with several interior districts recording temperatures exceeding 35°C, as per the evening weather bulletin from the India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Paralakhemundi was noted as the hottest location in the state, registering a maximum temperature of 36.6°C. It was followed by Jharsuguda at 35.8°C and Sundargarh at 35.6°C. Other areas reporting elevated temperatures included Bhadrak at 35.2°C and Nawarangpur at 35.0°C, indicating a rise in heat across the western and northern interior districts.
Among major urban centers, Bhubaneswar recorded 32.2°C, while Cuttack noted 31.2°C. Coastal regions remained relatively cooler compared to the interior, with Puri at 31.6°C and Paradip at 30.9°C.
Nighttime temperatures varied significantly across the state, with Daringbadi recording the lowest minimum temperature at 16.0°C, followed by Keonjhar at 17.8°C and Jharsuguda at 18.2°C, suggesting cooler nights in certain interior areas.
The bulletin also indicated scattered rainfall in some districts over the past 24 hours. Angul reported the highest rainfall at 18 mm, while Sundargarh received 11.2 mm. Moderate showers were also recorded in Jharsuguda (6.2 mm), Rourkela (6.4 mm), and Keonjhar (3.6 mm).
Humidity levels remained elevated at several stations, particularly in coastal and southern districts, leading to slightly humid conditions despite moderate temperatures in some areas.
The IMD is actively monitoring the changing weather conditions across Odisha as temperatures steadily increase with the approach of the summer season.
