Bhubaneswar: As Odisha anticipates the arrival of the Monsoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall beginning June 13, with the rain-bearing weather system expected to reach the state just in time for the Raja festival.
The national forecaster indicated that conditions are favorable for the further progression of the southwest monsoon into additional parts of Odisha over the next 2-3 days.
In the meantime, intense thunderstorm activity is expected to persist for two days, accompanied by hot and humid conditions in isolated areas across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
While no significant change in daytime temperatures is anticipated over the next 24 hours, the mercury levels may gradually decrease by 2-4 degrees during the following six days.
