Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for seven districts of Odisha, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, until around 5 PM on Sunday.
Severe thunderstorms, lightning, and rain with surface winds reaching 50 km/h may occur in parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Nayagarh, and Puri districts over the next three hours.
Residents are advised to monitor the weather closely and seek safer locations to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds (50-60 km/h) may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at isolated locations in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts.
Yellow warning
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds (40-50 km/h) are also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at isolated places in the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, and Keonjhar.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds (30-40 km/h) may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at isolated places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Angul, Boudh, Rayagada, and Dhenkanal.
