Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds over several areas in 12 districts of Odisha in the next three hours.
According to the warning issued at 7:10, thunderstorms with lightning, rain, and surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 km/h are very likely to occur at one or two locations over Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Sundergarh districts until around 10:10 am. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts.
The Met Department has advised residents in the affected areas to stay alert and monitor weather updates closely. People are urged to seek safer locations during lightning activity and to avoid open areas, tall trees, water bodies, and unsecured structures.
