Extreme Heat to Persist for Four Days in Odisha, Rain Relief Expected Soon

Citizens in Odisha can anticipate a welcome break from the scorching heat, as the national weather agency has forecast a temperature decrease of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius beginning this weekend.

On Tuesday, a heatwave is expected to affect several areas, including Sambalpur, Balangir, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi districts. Additionally, hot and humid conditions are likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh districts.

Monday saw no relief as the state continued to experience extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 44 degrees Celsius in seven locations. Boudh recorded the highest temperature at 45.9 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Titilagarh at 45.5 degrees Celsius. Bhawanipatna and Nuapada both hit 44.5 degrees Celsius, while Jharsuguda reached 44.4 degrees Celsius, and Sundargarh and Talcher recorded 44.2 degrees Celsius each.

In Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the combination of intense heat and high humidity made conditions particularly uncomfortable for residents.
