The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that several districts of Odisha will continue to experience severe weather conditions until June 4. On Monday, the IMD indicated that districts such as Kandhamal and Gajapati are under a red warning for rainfall, lightning, hailstorms, and strong winds reaching speeds of 60 to 70 km/h, along with thunderstorms.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are anticipated today in Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh districts.
An orange warning has been issued for eight districts, including Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Nayagarh, where thunderstorms with gusty winds of 50-60 km/h are expected. Hailstorms and heavy rainfall may also occur at isolated locations in Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has also issued a yellow warning for several districts, including Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, and Khurda.
On June 2, severe weather is expected to persist. Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Kandhamal districts have received an orange warning for thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and gusty winds of 60-70 km/h.
Additionally, another orange alert has been issued for Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, and Nayagarh districts due to thunderstorms and winds of 50-60 km/h. A yellow warning is also in effect for Balasore, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, and Khurda.
Severe weather conditions are expected to continue across Odisha until June 4.
