Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for five districts of Odisha until around 5:30 PM on Friday.
Moderate thunderstorms accompanied by surface winds of 40 to 50 kmph, lightning, and heavy rainfall are expected to affect most areas in Kataka, Jagatsinghpur, Debagada, Khordha, and Sambalpur.
A similar warning for light to moderate rain has been issued for Kandhamala and Sundargada until approximately 3:40 PM.
The IMD further indicated that thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain may occur at one or two locations in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sundargada, Jharsuguda, Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Anugola, Puri (including Puri city), Nuapada, Boudh, Nayagada, Sonpur, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Kenderapada, Jajpur, Kalahandi, and Dhenkanal until 6:20 PM.
Residents are advised to monitor the weather closely and relocate to safer areas to protect themselves from potential lightning strikes.
