Burglars Steal Jewelry Valued at Rs 20 Lakh in Jharsuguda

Burglars targeted the residence of businessman Dasharath Sharma in Talpatia village under the jurisdiction of Jharsuguda Airport Police Station late Wednesday night. The thieves broke into the house and made off with gold, silver, and diamond jewelry valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh, along with Rs 10,000 in cash.

Police sources indicated that three to four individuals entered the premises and accessed the almirah to execute the theft. Sharma subsequently filed a formal complaint at the Airport Police Station.

Senior officials, including SP Gundala Raghavendra Reddy, SDPO Umashankar Singh, IIC Bandana Nayak, and SI Arun Sahu, arrived at the scene with a team to initiate the investigation. Authorities deployed a sniffer dog squad to track the suspects and began reviewing CCTV footage from Sharma’s residence.

The incident has caused alarm among local residents, who are now calling for enhanced security measures. The police have increased patrolling in the area and assured the public of prompt action to apprehend the culprits.

As of Thursday afternoon, investigators had not yet located the burglars, but the inquiry is ongoing, with officials optimistic about making progress soon.
