Jharsuguda Police Uncover Fake B.Ed Admission Scheme, Two Arrested

Jharsuguda police on Sunday uncovered a fraudulent B.Ed admission scheme, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including a woman, for allegedly deceiving students with promises of securing college admissions in Andhra Pradesh.

The suspects have been identified as Chittaranjan Barik and Reema Das. According to police, the duo enticed students from Odisha by guaranteeing easy admissions into B.Ed colleges through informal arrangements and collected commissions ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 from each victim.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Gundala Reddy Raghavendra stated that a case has been filed at the Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police Station. “We have arrested two persons so far and are verifying the number of victims involved. Further investigation is underway,” he said during a media briefing.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects utilized the names of institutions such as Seven Hills B.Ed College and Ramakrishna B.Ed College in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh as part of their scheme. They allegedly misled students by promising hassle-free admissions and employed forged documents to gain their trust.

Police suspect that more individuals may be involved in the scheme and are working to identify additional suspects. They are also seeking to locate other victims who may have been defrauded.

In a post on X, Jharsuguda police urged students and guardians to confirm the legitimacy of educational institutions before making any payments and encouraged victims of such fraud to come forward and report their cases.
