Berhampur MP Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy has urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to extend the Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad express to Berhampur, aiming to facilitate travel for passengers in southern Odisha, particularly in Ganjam district.
In a letter to the railway minister, Panigrahy stated, “The residents of Ganjam, who work in Bokaro, will get a direct train from silk city. Besides, the proposed train will be convenient for patients to go to Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) in Ranchi. It will also help to boost tourism in Gopalpur and Chilika. We hope the railway minister will consider my request and take steps.”
The Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad express, which previously operated as a special train, was regularized by the railways in March. Within Odisha, the train stops at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Rairakhol, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Rourkela.
