Bhubaneswar has experienced a setback in air connectivity as several domestic and international flight services from the city have been reduced under the summer schedule.
Prasanna Pradhan, Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), stated that the suspension of various services was due to multiple operational constraints. The revised schedule has led to the suspension of direct flights to cities such as Indore, Dehradun, and Kochi, along with international destinations like Dubai and Singapore.
Currently, Bangkok is the only international destination served from the airport. Pradhan noted that some airlines have ceased operations from the airport, as the summer period is typically regarded as off-season.
Nevertheless, flight services to major domestic destinations, including New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jharsuguda, and Rourkela, will continue. The summer schedule is set to remain in effect until October.
