Jharsuguda Police Uncover Illegal Arms Racket, Two Arrested Under 'Operation Netra'

The Brajrajnagar Police in Jharsuguda district successfully dismantled an illegal arms racket on Wednesday, arresting two individuals, one of whom is a notorious criminal, according to police reports.

The primary suspect has been identified as Adarsh Dubey alias Bittu, a resident of the Brajrajnagar area, who is accused of illegally importing and supplying firearms from Bihar to local operatives.

Following specific intelligence, police executed coordinated raids at four locations within the Brajrajnagar police jurisdiction. During these operations, law enforcement seized a 7.65 mm pistol, two country-made pistols, and four rounds of live ammunition from the suspects.

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra stated that the operation was conducted under the supervision of the SDPO Brajrajnagar and led by the IIC Brajrajnagar. He confirmed that the raids resulted in the recovery of illegal firearms and the apprehension of two individuals linked to the racket.

The SP emphasized that strict measures would be enforced against anti-social elements involved in the illegal arms trade, asserting that such activities would not be tolerated in the district.

Additionally, police noted that the arrested individual has a criminal background, with previous involvement in serious crimes, including attempted murder and smuggling.

This operation is believed to have disrupted a larger criminal network engaged in the illegal arms supply within the region, and investigations are ongoing to uncover further connections to the racket.
