Jharsuguda police achieved a significant milestone under Operation Netra by apprehending a young man in possession of a country-made pistol and live ammunition. The arrest occurred on Sunday afternoon after the police received a tip-off about a suspect with an illegal firearm near Gauntiapada.
Acting promptly, a patrol team arrived at the scene. Upon noticing the police vehicle, the suspect attempted to escape towards Buromal but was quickly pursued and caught. The individual has been identified as Ram Sonkar Singh, also known as Bittu, a 21-year-old from the Buromal area.
During the search, authorities recovered one country-made pistol, one live round, and a mobile phone from him. Officials have registered Jharsuguda Town Police Case No. 214/2026 under Sections 25(1)(A)/29 of the Arms Act, and the accused was presented in court the same day.
