In Jharsuguda district, a woman was shot by an unidentified assailant while standing on the veranda of her residence on Friday night. The incident took place around 10:30 pm in the Sarbahal area.
The victim, identified as Biswabijayani Jena, was reportedly targeted by a miscreant who arrived on a motorcycle, fired two shots at her, and then fled the scene. Neighbors, alerted by the gunshots, rushed to her aid and discovered her with a bullet injury.
She was immediately taken to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital for initial treatment before being transferred to Burla for further care. The Jharsuguda Town Police and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.
