A special POCSO court in Jharsuguda has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his four-year-old daughter in the Brajarajnagar area in June 2025. The court also imposed a two-year jail sentence on the child’s mother for her attempts to suppress the incident.
The convict, Pankaj Podh, was found guilty under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code. The verdict was delivered after the court reviewed critical evidence collected by the Brajrajnagar police.
The incident took place on June 27, 2025, when Podh sexually assaulted his minor daughter at their residence. Following the crime, the Brajarajnagar police registered case No. 140/2025 and initiated an investigation. During the probe, officers gathered medical reports, witness statements, and forensic evidence that substantiated the allegations.
The child’s mother, Anu Bag, was convicted for attempting to suppress the crime and obstruct justice, resulting in her two-year imprisonment. The Additional District Judge-cum-Special POCSO Court in Jharsuguda characterized the crime as heinous and deeply disturbing.
