In a significant operation against illegal liquor manufacturing and trafficking, Jharsuguda Police arrested nine individuals on Friday. The extensive excise raid took place in Mohanpur and Ujalpur villages, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Belpahar police station.
The operation was a collaborative effort involving teams from the Belpahar and Lakhanpur police stations, supported by Brajrajnagar Police and armed personnel, all conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate.
During the raid, authorities confiscated 722 liters of illicit Mahua liquor, 47 quintals of Mahua flower, 10 kilograms of urea, and various other materials utilized in the brewing process. Additionally, approximately 12 quintals of fermented Mahua pocha were destroyed on-site as part of the enforcement actions.
Nine excise cases have been filed under the relevant sections of the Odisha Excise Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are currently verifying the criminal backgrounds of the arrested individuals.
Jharsuguda Police emphasized their commitment to taking stringent measures against illegal liquor manufacturing and trafficking to protect public health and uphold law and order in the district.
