Jharsuguda Lawyer Found Dead on Tracks; Family Claims Murder Despite Suicide Note

JHARSUGUDA: The mutilated body of Trinath Gual, the former president of the Jharsuguda Bar Association, was discovered on the railway tracks near Balijuri village on Tuesday.

According to police, the 55-year-old senior lawyer was found dead near the tracks at approximately 5:30 am. A suicide note was reportedly found at the scene, in which Gual stated that no one should be held accountable for his death.

Railway authorities notified the police that the lawyer allegedly jumped in front of the Rourkela-Koraput Express as it passed through Jharsuguda. The loco pilot reportedly submitted a memo detailing the incident. Jharsuguda SP GR Raghavendra, along with personnel from the Airport police station and Government Railway Police (GRP), quickly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and the body was returned to the family following a postmortem examination.

However, Gual’s family vehemently disputes the suicide theory. His nephew asserted that the lawyer was mentally strong and unlikely to have taken such a drastic action. He alleged that the death was a premeditated murder related to a recent dispute over family land and called for a comprehensive investigation.
